ASK NAIJ: Woman Contracts STD From Ex, Has Trouble Moving On With Life

I am 25, from Imo State, currently single.

We had a very platonic and decent relationship with my first serious boyfriend. He was 25, I was 23. We dated for two years before eventually having sex about three months ago. A few days later, he confessed he had herpes. In the next two weeks, I found out I was infected (although we did use protection).

Of course, I said "Good-bye" to him. It's a whole different story about how he contracted the illness from someone else while dating me, and yet another question of why he did not tell me prior to having sex with me. I'm not even talking about all the shame I had to overcome to start getting all the necessary medical treatment.

He is already smitten with some other girl, while I am still trying to figure out how to move on. I know it could have been worse, but it still is hard. I just don't know when I'll be over the shame and embarrassment.

Most importamtly, what (and how) do I tell my future significant other about the issue? Help. I don't want to give up on love, but I don't know how to move on from this.
