Giant Sinkhole Swallows 8 Rare Sports Cars in the National Corvette Museum

This is the dramatic moment 8 rare sports cars were swallowed  by a gigantic sinkhole at a museum in Kentucky.

No injuries were reported after the ground caved in at the National Corvette Museum in the city of Bowling Green, early on Wednesday morning.

The hole is said to be around 12 metres wide and nearly 10 metres deep a spokeswoman revealed.

According to CNN, motion detectors alerted security at 5:30am that something was wrong.

The museum estimates the damage could end up costing in excess of "millions of dollars".

"When you go in there, it's unreal," museum spokeswoman Kate Frassinelli said.

"The hole is so big, it makes the Corvettes look like little Matchbox cars."

Bowling Green is the only place in the world where famous automobile-maker General Motors constructs the Corvette sports car.
