Ten Bathed With Acid In Anambra Over Debt

No less than ten persons sustained chemical burns after being doused with acid following a misunderstanding in Mgbakwu, Awka LGA of Anambra State.

The incident happened on Tuesday when a group of people demanded from one Uche Nnabuchi explanations as to why he refused to pay the woman whom he owed N15,000.

Mr. Nnabuchi said to the police that he owed the woman not N15,000, but 6,000; at the same time, he said the incident was unintentional and that he acid was meant to douse his vehicle, but not him.

Two of the victims, Mr. Obiadimma Nnebife and Onyeka Nwaenu, also narrated their versions of the incident. They both said the youths were only working "to ensure peace and love in the community."

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr. Emeka Chukwuemeka confirmed the incident, adding the police had begun investigation into the matter.
