BREAKING: NAFDAC Workers Commence 7-day Nationwide Strike
- Another day, another strike in Nigeria's overstretched health sector

- The workers say they have not been paid their promotion arrears dating back to 2018 and 2019

Health workers at the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), on Thursday, April 15 embarked on a seven-day warning strike.
The workers are members of the Medical and Health Workers Union.
Idzi Isua, the vice-chairman of the Medical and Health Workers Union, an umbrella body for the workers, confirmed the development to Premium Times.
Isua said the union is demanding the payment of promotion arrears for 2018 and 2019 promotions owed its members amongst other pending issues.

He added:
“More worrisome is that 2020 promoted staff will soon (also) join the queue. This request has lingered for too long hence the strike action.”

Meanwhile, the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria's (JUSUN) ongoing nationwide strike took another dimension on Tuesday, April 13, as the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ikeja branch threatened to stage a protest in support of JUSUN.
Bartholomew Aguegbodo, the chairman of NBA Ikeja made the announcement after a meeting of the branch executive.
In a related development, maritime workers have issued a 7-day ultimatum to the federal government before they proceed on an indefinite strike.
The workers issued the warning through their Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria in a jointly signed statement issued on Friday, April 9 by its leaders.
