Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani who was handed a three-match for an insensitive post has disclosed that he is alien to English language customs.

The English FA handed the summer signing the heavy suspension following his Instagram post to a friend which he captioned 'Gracias n******'.

He made the post on November 29 after scoring the match winner in Manchester United’s 3-2 win over Southampton.

The Uruguayan however stated that although he has accepted the three-game ban, he had no intention to offend anyone with his post. He wrote on Instagram:

"Hello everyone, I do not want to extend much in this uncomfortable moment for me. I want to share with you that I accept the disciplinary sanction knowing that I am foreign to English language customs, but I do not share the point of view.

Back clash soon ensued and Cavani was forced to take down the post after he learnt it was offensive in some contexts.

Manchester United have since released a statement on Cavani’s ban, demanding the FA's full written reasons for imposing the ban so that it is clear the striker is not racist.

Consequently, the 33-year-old will now miss Manchester United’s next three matches as he was out of action in their 2-1 win over Aston Villa in the Premier League on New Year’s Day.

He will also be out of action in the crucial Carabao Cup semi-final against fierce rivals Manchester City next week.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has disclosed that he will finally decide whether to bring in Mesut Ozil to the Premier League squad or not, as soon as the January transfer window ends.

The German midfielder was dropped out of the team’s squads for the Premier League as well as the Europa League.

And following poor run of matches in the English top-flight, there are calls for the ‘assist-master’ to be recalled into the squad when they have the chance to do so.

With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, it seems unlikely at the moment that he will ever play for the club again.
