2021: We‘ll shame, disgrace terrorists, says Buratai

- Terrorist groups attacking communities in Nigeria have been promised hell in the year 2021

- Nigeria's number one army chief, Tukur Buratai, said the year will end in shame for the insurgents

- Buratai made the comment while addressing frontline troops of the Nigerian military in Borno state

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, says the Nigerian army will shame and disgrace the Boko Haram and the Islamic States for West African Province (ISWAP) terrorists in 2021.

Buratai gave the assurance at an event held at his hometown in Biu local government area of Borno state, Daily Sun reports.

“I am very optimistic that 2021 will be different, totally different with a remarkable difference from 2020.

“You didn't shame and disgrace terrorists in 2020, is it 2021 that you will shame and disgrace them? This has shown that you're not fit to be army chief, a disgrace to the military.”

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to reorganise Nigeria's security architecture in 2021.

The president made the promise in his 2021 new year message to Nigerians on Friday, January 1, adding that the security agencies will be trained adequately on how to engage, push back and dismantle the operations of both internal and external extremist and criminal groups.

In a related development, the national chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Audu Ogbeh, has revealed what happens after captives are rescued from the clutch of terrorists following payment of ransoms.

Ogbeh, who was a minister of agriculture under President Buhari's first tenure said that with information available to the ACF, terrorists divert the ransom money into the purchase of arms.
