- Atiku attributed problems facing Nigeria to Buhari's leadership style
- The PDP chieftain, however, urged Nigerians to have hope in the new year
Atiku Abubakar, a former Nigeria's vice-president, has lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari over his New Year live broadcast.
Legit.ng reports that Atiku in a thread of tweets on Friday, January 1, said that laziness from Buhari's government made the nation suffer multi-facet downcast in the previous year.
In his New Year message, Atiku said the out-gone year was quite dramatic and it was only by the grace of the Almighty God that Nigerians survived to witness the succeeding year.
“It is cheering that we are entering the New Year with refreshing news of a handful of certified vaccines against the dreaded COVID-19 virus. And better still is news of commencement of vaccination in some parts of the world. I am expectant that the vaccine(s) would soon be available for vaccination in Nigeria. It is also hoped that very soon life would return to normal."
He said the damage that the pandemic had done to lives remained, and that it would take some time for the nation to overcome.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Atiku gave tips on how the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can emerge victorious in the 2023 general elections.
It was reported that Akitu, who was the 2019 presidential candidate of the party said the PDP must be united to secure electoral victories in 2023.
In another report, president warned ministries, departments and agencies of government saddled with the task of generating revenue generation to work hard to meet their targets or be sanctioned.
The special assistant to the president on social media, Lauretta Onochie, said that Buhari issued the warning on Thursday, December 31, after signing the ₦13.588 trillion 2021 Appropriation Bill and the 2020 Finance Bill into law.
Onochie added that Buhari expressed delight that despite disruptions occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 budget implementation passed previous thresholds.
