Lionel Messi reached another major milestone in his illustrious career after inspiring Barcelona to a 3-0 victory over Real Valladolid.

The 33-year-old Argentine scored one of the goals for the Catalans in the game and it turned out to be the effort he needed to become the player with the most goals for one club.

Brazil legend Pele held the record after scoring 643 goals for Santos but the six-time Ballon d'Or winner has now taken over after increasing his tally to 644 in his side's last outing.

And in celebrating the legend's great achievement, a United States beer company Budweiser has decided to send customised bottles of drink to the 160 goalkeepers Messi has scored against.

This means that every goaltender would receive a bottle of the brand for the number of times the attacker has against them, with each bottle numbered on the front of the bottle.

Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas will receive 17 bottles having conceded 17 times against the superstar.

Meanwhile, Juventus and Italy icon Gianluigi Buffon shared a picture with his bottles with numbers 514 and 515 having allowed two goals from the attacker in their Champions League game in 2017.

And the 42-year-old took to social media to congratulate the Barcelona captain after his achievement saying:

"@budfootball... thanks for the beers. I'll take it as a compliment. We have great battles over the years! Congratulations on breaking the 644 record @leomessi... it really is an unbelievable achievement. Cheers!"
