Robert Lewandowski is set to break Cristiano Ronaldo Champions League record if he scores against Atletico Madrid at the Allianz Arena, Daily Star reports.

Ronaldo currently holds the record for scoring in nine consecutive opening Champions League matches and Lewandoski can go one better than the Portuguese if he finds the back of the net.

The Bavarians became the first team in the history of the competition to win all eleven matches en route to the finals which is also the longest winning run by any team.

Bayern have lost three players in their team last season including Thiago Alcantara to Liverpool, while Philippe Coutinho and Ivan Perisic returned to Barcelona and Inter Milan after their respective loan spells.

Luis Suarez will be making his European debut for Atletico and is expected to spearhead the attack after Diego Costa has been ruled out of the tie.

Diego Simeone's side have won just two of their previous ten away group matches in the competition but will be looking to post a better outing this season.

In the other Group A match, Lokomotiv Moscow will travel to Austria to face Red Bull Salzburg.
