Eid-El-Maulud: Senate President Lawan preaches love, peace, tolerance
- As Nigerian Muslims celebrate Eid-El-Maulud, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, has sent a message to the faithful
- Lawan said that Nigerian Muslims should follow peace, tolerance, justice and love exemplified in the life of the prophet
- The Senate president said that the National Assembly will continue to do its utmost to make laws that will better the lives of Nigerians
Ahmad Lawan, Nigeria's Senate president has felicitated with Muslim faithful as they celebrate Eid-El-Maulud, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad.
In a statement made available to Legit.ng, Lawan called for peace, tolerance, justice and love which are virtues portrayed in the life of the prophet, adding that the festive period should be used to renew commitment to propagate peaceful co-existence that will enhance prosperity in the country.
The Senate president said: “Prophet Muhammad preached and lived for peace and that is the virtue expected of every Muslim, particularly in a diverse society such as ours.
"This year’s occasion is another opportunity to further thank the Almighty Allah for his continued guidance and intervention in the challenges in our society."
He added that the National Assembly will not relent to make laws that will bring about development and order for all and sundry in the country.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Senate deputy president, Ovie Omo-Agege, had sent a message to Nigerians.

Celebrating with Nigerian Muslims in the country in his statement, called on them to follow the teachings of the prophet.
The senator said that if the doctrines taught by the prophet were adhered to, there will be peace and unity in the country.
He added that the Muslim faithful should uphold religious tolerance to foster national progress and peaceful co-existence.
