Ministerial list: Buhari sends Senate names of 43 nominees

President Muhammadu Buhari in the evening of Monday, July 22, reportedly sent the names of prospective ministers for his second cabinet to the Senate.

According to The Cable, the list contains the names of 43 nominees chosen across the geopolitical zones in the country.

The Senate, which is scheduled to go on a two-month long recess from Thursday, July 25, will read the names of the nominees during its plenary on Tuesday, July 23. The persons chosen by President Buhari will be screened by the upper chamber for approval.

The online newspaper claimed that only about 12 former ministers are contained in the list to join the president's second cabinet.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that President Buhari had stated that he was under tremendous pressure to name ministers for his second term in office.

The president made the disclosure on Thursday night, July 11 while chatting with State House correspondents, after dining with principal officers of the National Assembly.

Legit.ng gathered that the president added that most of the ministers from his first term were unknown to him. He said the All Progressives Congress (APC) had nominated most of them.
