Premier League giants Arsenal have completed the signing of Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano Futebol Clube this summer.

The 18-year-old forward has made tremendous progress since making his debut at the Sao Paulo-based club in 2017. He scored 10 goals from 34 appearances in all competitions for the outfit.

Martinelli joined the north Londoners in a long term deal valued around £5 million but will have to fight his way into the team's starting line up.

With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette set to continue from where they stopped last term.

A club statement read: "Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli is joining us from Ituano Futebol Clube on a long-term contract.

"Gabriel has made rapid progress during his short time at Ituano. Since making his debut in November 2017 aged just 16 years and nine months, the young forward scored 10 goals from his 34 appearances for the Sao Paulo-based club.

"The 18-year-old’s development was also recently acknowledged by the Brazilian national team, with a call-up to the full squad for a training camp in May ahead of the Copa America.

"Gabriel was voted as the 2019 Best Newcomer and also a member of the 2019 Team of the Year for the Campeonato Paulista - the football league for the state of Sao Paulo.

"The deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes. Gabriel will shortly join up with his new team mates for pre-season training."

Legit.ng earlier reported that Jack Clarke has completed a summer move from Championship side Leeds United to Premier League club Tottenham.

The 18-year-old has penned a four-year deal with the north London club but will spend the new season on loan back at his former club Leeds.

Clarke made five starts in all competitions last season, making a further 20 appearances from the bench, scoring two goal and making the same number of assists.
