Two kids who were rescued 5 years ago after being branded witches show off transformation (photos)

Danish aid-worker, Anja Ringgren Loven, has showed off the transformation of two Nigerian kids that she saved five years ago. The kids, Mary and Ekong, have grown up to become happy and healthy kids.

The aid-worker who is committed to saving kids who are being maltreated by their communities and families, shared the photos of the kids to update people on how well they have grown.

On her Facebook post, Loven noted that she was in Denmark when Mary and Ekong were saved by the members of her team.

According to her, the kids were rescued from the bush where someone had tried to burn them alive. They were both taken to the hospital where they were hospitalised for weeks.

The little girl who was nine years old at the time in 2014 was with syphilis and gonorrhea.

Loven revealed that the kids had been branded witches and were abandoned by their families.

She said: "Mary 2014 vs. Mary 2019, Ekong 2014 vs. Ekong 2019

5 years ago today I was in Denmark. David Emmanuel Umem called me in the morning. He told me that he had to go on a rescue mission. I was nervous for his safety. And nervous about the children he was going to rescue. It was said that they might not be alive.

Later in the day David send me pictures of the children. He found a boy and a girl in the bushes. The children were almost naked with burns all over their bodies. Someone had tried to burn them alive.

I was shocked. David and our team took the children to the hospital. They were both hospitalized for weeks.

This was the day Mary and Ekong were rescued. Mary had been sexsual abused. She was diagnosed with syphilis and gonorrhea. Only 9 years old !#childrenarenotwitches."
