The senator representing Kogi west senatorial district at the upper chamber of the national assembly, Senator Dino, has been urged to submit himself to the police by his colleague from Kaduna.
Senator Shehu Sani gave this advice following the running battle between Nigeria police and the Kogi born politician.
Operatives of the Nigeria police are currently at Dino Melaye's residence to arrest him over allegations of shooting a police officer, Sgt. Danjuma Saliu, attached to 37 Police Mobile Force (PMF) while on duty in Aiyetoro Gbede, Mopa Road in Kogi.
Sani who urged Melaye to give himself up to the police tweeted: "The police should end the siege on Senator Dino’s House and the Senator should voluntarily present himself to the police with his legal team. The Gaza treatment is unhelpful to the image of the Police, the Government and the nation."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) gave an update on its operatives' wait at Senator Dino Melaye's residence days after denying the claim.
The police continues to lay siege on the residence of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator for over 48 hours. The NPF says the Kogi-born senator is wanted for criminal conspiracy.
The police in a statement sent to Legit.ng on Sunday, December 30, says its operatives' deployed to arrest Senator Melaye in his residence won't retreat until the PDP senator surrenders himself for arrest and investigation.
