The statement said: "In a globalised world, the bond of our common humanity is getting stronger day by day."

"Although Thailand is located thousands of miles away from us, we in Nigeria share the pains and difficulties of these trapped teenagers who face imminent danger to their lives.

When we perceive the victims as our own children, we are bound to identify with the trapped kids and be moved to action."

Thai authorities had on Sunday, July 6, rescued four boys out of 13 people trapped in a cave for more than two weeks.

The individuals were said to have been rescued through an operation that involved the children diving through dark, flooded passages.

The rescue of the children followed efforts from elite foreign divers and Thai Navy SEALs.

The operation will however continue on Monday, July 9, after supplies are restocked, authorities said.

Also, with fresh monsoon rains due that could flood the cave, rescuers warn that the window of opportunity to evacuate the boys is “limited”.
