Just in: Saraki finally responds to police query over offa robbery, suspects’ confession

The president of the Senate, in the evening of Thursday, June 7, said he had submitted his response to the enquiry of the police on his indictment by five principal suspects in relation to the April 5, 2018, robbery incident in Offa, Kwara state.

“In line with their request, earlier today, the Police received my response to their letter on the investigation into the Offa robbery case,” Saraki said in a tweet.

The suspected robbers had, upon their arrest, made some confessions and indicted Saraki and the governor of Kwara state, Abdulfatah Ahmed.

Legit.ng earlier reported that the police revealed circumstances that led to the invitation of Senate President Bukola Saraki over April 5 multiple bank robbery in Offa Kwara state.

Police spokesman, Jimoh Moshood who announced the arrest of Mr Yusuf Abdulwahab, the chief of staff to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed and Alabi Olalekan, his personal assistant, political said the bandits arrested made confessions during interrogations, indicting the senate president in the process.

Legit.ng also reported that the action against the police's bid to probe the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, over the Offa robbery scandal was on Tuesday, June 5, countered by some residents in the local government area of the state.

The protesters, who marched along the road leading to the palace of Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi, in the Idi-Ogun area, went about with placards most of which read: ‘Injustice is dead, justice must prevail,’ ‘RIP to the victims, Saraki is questionable,’ and ‘We cannot trade on injustice', Punch reports.
