Federal government reiterates support for IDPs, promises to keep fighting drug abuse

- The federal government has said it will continue to support in providing succour for the internally displaced persons

- This was stated by President Muhammadu Buhari, who also said the federal government will continue to support the fight against drug abuse

- The president expressed his gratitude to the wives of the 36 state governors that paid him a visit at the State House in Abuja

All groups involved in solving the challenges facing women and children in internally displaced persons camps have been reassured by President Muhammadu Buhari of the federal government's support.

The president, who also reassured of the federal government's support in curbing the menace of drug abuse, spoke at a meeting with the Nigerian governors' wives in Abuja on Sunday, May 27, The Guardian reports.

Legit.ng notes that the president expressed delight at the various programmes by the wives of the 36 states governors aimed at touching the lives of Nigerians, especially women and children.

He said: ”I am very pleased with your activities, this shows how much you care about this disadvantaged children.

”I also appreciate the fact that you are visiting this drug addicts victims by advocating for their healthcare and rehabilitation."

”So, I will ask the governors to give you more time and resources so that they can have some relief too because you are doing a good job."

According to the president, federal government will facilitate a partnership between governors wives, Central Bank of Nigeria and federal ministry of Agriculture towards providing soft loans to assist women and youths.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday, May 26, received wives of the governor of 36 states in Nigeria.

The governor's wives were led to the president by the First Lady, Aisha. They sought President Buhari's fatherly advise on achieving their mission and vision in Nigeria.
