- United travel to the London Stadium for their Premier League fixture against West Ham United on Thursday, May 10

- They are second on the English topflight table with 77 points from 36 matches

- And Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Romelu Lukaku will not be back for the encounter tomorrow evening

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that his star striker Romelu Lukaku will not be available when his side battle West Ham United in their Premier League fixture on Thursday, May 10.

The 24-year-old suffered an ankle injury in the Red Devils’ 2-1 victory over Arsenal at Old Trafford earlier this season.

He was however missing in their 1-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at the American Express Community Stadium last Friday.

Meanwhile, Marouane Fellaini will also not be featuring for United in tomorrow’s game while Alexis Sanchez and Phil Jones are expected to return to the squad ahead of the game at the London Stadium.

When asked about injuries, Mourinho said: “They all work well, even in weeks that hand in bad performances or bad results.

I never have anything negative to say about the professionalism of my players during the season. This week was not different.

“In terms of injuries, [Romelu] Lukaku and [Marouane] Fellaini are the two players that are not available for tomorrow.

And apart from that, [Phil] Jones is back, [Alexis] Sanchez is back and no more problems.

Though Mourinho confirmed that the Belgian forward will not play against West this week, he however hopes to have him back for their FA Cup final clash against Chelsea on May 19.

Mourinho won the Europa League and the EFL cup titles in his first season at Old Trafford – a feat that qualified the Red Devils to play Champions League football this season.

United have a chance to end their season on a high this season with a convincing victory over Chelsea when both sides battle for the cup title next weekend.

The Portuguese born manager has led Porto and Inter Milan to Champions League triumphs earlier in his career, while at other clubs; he has won domestic league titles.
