How Nigerians react to Yusuf Buhari's posters
However, Nigerians have taken to the comment section of the PDP chieftain's post on social media and expressed mixed feelings about his comment. Some defended Sowunmi, while many attacked him. Below are some of their comments:
Temitope Gracious Aganns commended Sowunmi, describing his post as courageous:
"Otunba Segun Showunmi nails it: principle over emotion, consistency over convenience. Africa’s strength lies in solidarity, respect, and fairness, not in selective outrage or hostility. A sobering reminder that true leadership speaks even when inconvenient."
Emmaswordlove criticised Yusuf Buhari's ambition:
"Hahahaha, I like this game. Poor Nigerians who ought to stand against this oligarchy are busy fighting each other for indomie and tribal sentiments, while the noble crooks are positioning themselves for the national cake. Don't be surprised that an old man of 65yrs sing Sai Baba for him."

Oga Ade said competency should be considered rather than his father's legacy:
"Doesn't matter if he is competent or not, just stand by him because his father didn't force him on Nigerians."
Muhammad Hassan expressed his likeness for the former president's son:
"Yusuf, the special boy, I so loved the guy, more humble than all of them, the so-called sons of Nigerian elites."
Old Soldier alleged that the PDP chieftain was looking for an alliance:
"You now wonder how a southerner is busy praising an intending Northern HOR member. You can't see the other side doing this lai lai. Southern politicians, una too dey beg affiliation and ha why them dey use una."
