SID: We Are Positioning Anambra as a Leading Innovation Hub in Africa, Soludo Says, Shares Details

Beijing, China - The Chukwuma Charles Soludo-led Anambra state government says it has positioned the state as a leading hub for innovation in Africa after securing recognition at two major international forums in Beijing, China.

The state, represented by Chinwe Okoli, special adviser to Governor Soludo on innovation and business incubation, participated in the Triple Helix Association & CASSSP Innovation Summit and the 42nd International Association of Science Parks (IASP) World Conference.

A statement sent to Legit.ng indicates that the Solution Innovation District (SID), a flagship initiative of the Soludo administration, was named one of the top three winners of the IASP Inspiring Solutions Awards 2025, a prize that recognises transformative global models.

Anambra govt explains SID details

At the Triple Helix Summit, Okoli delivered a presentation titled “The Anambra Story – From Theory to Transformation.” She outlined how the state is applying the Triple Helix model of collaboration between government, academia and industry.

She explained that the SID has already produced measurable results, including:

  • Training of more than 80,000 citizens in digital skills.
  • Launch of dozens of startups fueling a digital economy.
  • Securing over $2 million in ecosystem investment.

At the IASP World Conference, Okoli’s presentation, “Bridging Continents Through Innovation: SID and the Power of International Collaboration,” emphasised cross-border partnerships as key to addressing Africa’s digital growth and youth unemployment challenges.

Her message resonated with global delegates, culminating in the award for Anambra’s “Digital Tribe” initiative, which aims to train one million young people. The programme was hailed as “a transformational, inspiring, and impactful blueprint for building a sustainable, homegrown innovation economy.”

“This award is a powerful testament to Governor Soludo’s foresight and commitment,” Okoli said. “Our message in Beijing was clear: Anambra is building global bridges for talent, technology and capital. The world is taking notice.”

Anambra govt announces opportunities for investors

Anambra used the forums to highlight investment opportunities linked to the SID. These include:

  • Government-backed vision: a 13.7-hectare innovation hub featuring AI labs, robotics centres, residences and research facilities.
  • Established partnerships: collaborations with UNDP, Meta, Microsoft and other global players.
  • Talent pipeline: the “1 Million Anambra Digital Tribe” initiative building a skilled workforce for the global digital economy.
  • Strategic positioning: Africa’s digital economy is projected to grow from $180 billion to $712 billion by 2050, with Anambra positioning itself as a gateway.

Anambra 2025: Ohaneze Ndigbo announces its candidate

In another report, the Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide has hailed the triple international awards bagged by Governor Soludo as evidence of his good track record in the governance of Anambra state within the past three years and some months.

Soludo was recognised on the international stage with three prestigious awards. The awards were given on Thursday, September 25, 2025, during the 2025 Global Power Forum held alongside the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The accolades include the African Public Service Excellence Award and the African Governor of the Year Award, as well as a certificate of special recognition from the House of Representatives of South Carolina.
