Faith Odunsi, a student of Ambassadors School in Ota, Ogun State, has been named “Nigerian of the Week” by the National Orientation Agency (NOA) following her remarkable victory at the Global Open Mathematics Competition.

The announcement was made via the agency’s official X account on 17 September.

The NOA stated, “Faith Odunsi has made Nigeria proud on the global stage.” The teenager reportedly clinched first place in the prestigious international contest, outperforming participants from the United Kingdom, United States, China, Europe, Asia, and other regions.

Global mathematics champion from Nigeria

Faith’s triumph earned her the top prize of $1,000 and reinforced Nigeria’s reputation for academic excellence. According to the NOA, her “calm confidence and sharp intellect shone through each round of the competition,” leaving no doubt about her exceptional abilities.

FG gifts student who won global English contest

Legit.ng earlier reported that the federal government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, gifted the winner of the TeenEagle global finals competition, Nafisah Abdullahi, N200,000 on Thursday, August 28.

Legit.ng reported that Nafisa and 15-year-old Rukayya Muhammad Fema, both from Yobe state, are students of the Nigerian Tulip International College, who represented Nigeria at the World competition to beat 20,000 other participants from 69 countries.

They emerged as World best in English language skills and overall debate competitions, respectively, at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals in London, United Kingdom.
