Amazon to invest over $5 bn in Mexico data center
Amazon will invest more than $5 billion in a data center in central Mexico, the e-commerce giant said on Tuesday, part of a push by big tech to add more storage facilities to meet the needs of AI. The director of Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Latin America, Paula Bellizia, announced the investment at President Claudia Sheinbaum's regular morning news conference in Mexico City.

Over two dozen illegal miners were rescued and at least 15 bodies recovered from an abandoned gold mine in South Africa, as operations continued for a second day Tuesday to reach more people who have been underground for months. The EU accused China on Tuesday of discriminating against European medical device producers in public contracts and warned of "decisive action" unless the issue can be resolved through dialogue with Beijing. Global road transport emissions to peak in 2025: study
CO2 emissions from road transport could peak worldwide this year thanks to rapid growth in electric vehicles and stricter new regulations, a German think tank said Tuesday. The think tank, however, warned that a weakening of current environmental standards for road transport could lead to the peak being delayed.
