Guber Election: APC Commences Sensitisation In Anambra

The National Organising Secretary of All Progressive Congress (APC), Sen. Osita Izunaso, said on Friday that the party was mobilising the people of Anambra for the Nov. 16 governorship election.

Izunaso told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Friday that the party would participate fully in the election.

He said the party was not giving chances for failure following the announcement of the time table by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

We are here for the sensitisation of our party members in Anambra. We are here to let the people of Anambra know about the forthcoming governorship election in the state in November.

It is incumbent on us as a new party to come down and sensitise our people particularly the merging political parties that we have become one and that we are going to run that election as one,’’ he said.

Izunaso assured the members that the primary election under the new party would be democratic.

Our party constitution is definite about internal democracy and there is no missing word that if you want to fly the party’s flag, you must pass through some level of internal democracy.

There is no imposition of candidates; every aspirant shall be subjected to internal democracy. APC will ensure fairness and justice in all its dealings with members,’’ he said.

The secretary said that he was impressed with the turnout of people at its stakeholders meeting in Awka on Thursday, saying it showed the party already had the grassroots support in the state.

It is a manifestation of the yearnings and aspirations of the people; the people desired a change, the people want change and APC is here to give them that desired change,’’ Izunaso said
