Pat Patterson has given up the ghost at the age of 79, WWE announced.

The veteran spent 60 years of his career in the wrestling business and won the first-ever Intercontinental Championship and was the winner of the first Royal Rumble match.

He also won the AWA Tag Team Championship with Ray Stevens in 1978 before joining the WWE company.

His most legendary bout in the squared circle was with Sgt. Slaughter, as they both battled in the popular Boot Camp match and a brutal Alley Fight.

Patterson retired in 1984 and joined WWE chairman, Mr McMahon as a commentator before working as backstage personnel.

He was the one that designed the Royal Rumble Match format which gained prominence since 1988.

Patterson also made appearances during the Attitude Era creating unforgettable moments with Gerald Brisco as one of Mr McMahon's hilarious stooges.

Before he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1996 by Bret Hart, Patterson won the Hardcore Championship after pinning Crash Holly.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that The Undertaker drew the curtains on his 30-year career with the WWE in a final farewell at the 2020 Survivor Series.

The Undertaker, whose real name is Mark Calaway, made his debut in 1990 at the same pay-per-view event and has gone on to win several championship titles.

The Phenom also held the longest unbeaten streak at Wrestlemania where he was finally defeated after 21 appearances in wrestling's biggest showpiece.

Legit.ng also reported that Curtains have fallen on former WWE star James Kamala Harris.

The American pro wrestler passed away aged 70, with his death being announced on Monday, August 10, by WWE.

However, the wrestling company did not disclose the cause of his death.

Legit.ng also reported that Mohamed Abarhoun, a former Moroccan international, has died from stomach cancer at the age of 31.

He was diagnosed in February while playing for Turkish Super League side Caykur Rizespor.

Abarhoun had a seven-year spell with Moroccan side Moghreb Tetouan, winning two league titles in the process.
