The officer that was injured was also identified as HI Oladapo.

Benjamin said the injured officer was taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Lokoja, Kogi state for treatment.

“Officers of the Nigeria Customs Service are only implementers of federal government policies, hence we urge every Nigerian citizen aggrieved toward losing his/her goods to engage the services of the court rather than resort to violence and killing of family men who are the breadwinners..while serving their nation,” he said in the statement.

Benjamin said the agency had been in contact with the families of the slain officers since the incident happened on Thursday, December 12.

He said the agency was pained by the incident, but that men of the service will continue to collaborate with security forces to be able to apprehend the suspects.
