Meet James Rich, the 37-year-old man selling fried foods for a living

James Rich, a 37-year-old Nigerian man from Delta state, has opened up on his trials and what made him resort to selling fried foods by the road side. In his interview with Legit.ng, he explained how troubled he was over not having anything to do as he was about to start the year 2019.

Rich who hails from Isoko local government said he had tried various businesses at different points in time but he had failed. According to him, he was into electronics in Lagos but the business did not go smoothly, thus it folded up.

The industrious man also said he owned a restaurant at the exact same location where the interview was done but for some reasons that business did not sail far as well.

Rich told the correspondent of Legit.ng that he was deeply worried about starting a new project in year 2019. He wanted to do something that will be marketable and will not fold up like the other things he had tried doing in the past.

In the process of thinking and asking God for direction, he said that the thought of selling breakfast and lunch for people came in. This food idea according to him was a little different from all he had been doing in the past.

People in Lagos are usually in a hurry and spend a long time inside traffic; with this, he thought of providing food for them on the go. He wanted to help them save the time it will cost them to stop at an eatery to buy and eat food by making the food available for them on the go.

Rich said that he has five different spots where his fried food is being sold in order to make things easy for people. In the morning, he sells akara and bread for breakfast between the hours of six and eleven. At first, the akara was being sold with ogi (pap) until he discovered bred would be a better option.

For the lunch package, he sells fried sweet potato with sauce. The least price for his potatoes is five hundred naira. Rich has about four people working for him as he needs them to market the food at the other spots.

When asked about his relationship status, the food seller said he is yet to get married as Lagos girls are expensive and he may not be able to manage them. He said that he would like to focus on his business and make the most out of it.

Rich plays an active role in the preparation of the food he sells as he was seen frying the sweet potato and the sauce during the interview. He stands by the road side with a placard to attract customers and create awareness on his food business.
