- Arcadi Navarro, genetic expert, claims he can create a mini Messi
- Messi has finally honoured the invitation to play for his country
Lionel Messi can be reproduced using existing technology and techniques, according to scientist and genetic expert Arcadi Navarro.
He claimed that the Barcelona talisman would arrive like a baby with the same potential of becoming one the best ever in the sport.
Navarro, who is head of the European Genome-Phenome Archive (EGA) made the claim during an interview on Spanish radio station Cadena SER.
Navarro said: "Yes, Messi could be cloned with current techniques.
"We would achieve a being very similar to Messi, the result would look like Messi’s twin, as if two twins had been born and we had frozen one of them for 20 or 30 years."

However, there is no guarantee that the Mini-Messi would end up being as good as the real one - because of environmental and educational impacts as well as experience.
The real Messi left Newell's Old Boys in Argentina to join Barcelona as a 13-year-old.
He was treated for growth hormone deficiency for four years from when he was 10 till age 14.
The 31-year-old could not help his south American side avoid defeat to eventual winners France in the last 16 stage last summer.
