My household prayed, fasted for 40 days before I declared for Osun governorship - Sen Adeleke
- As 2019 elections draws closer, Sen Ademola Adeleke has disclosed that his entire household sought God's guidance before he declared his intention to run for governorship position in Osun state
- He said that during the 40 days they prayed and fasted, his family made a covenant to God that they would alleviate the state’s suffering; and received a clear signal afterwards
- The senator said he had fulfilled his campaign promise to his constituents and also disclosed that if elected as governor, he would give priority to agriculture
Senator Ademola Adeleke (PDP-Osun West) has stated that before he officially announced his intention to run for the state’s governorship seat, his entire household had prayed and fasted for 40 days, Daily Trust reports.
The senator made the disclosure before a crowd of supporters when he submitted his letter of intent to contest for the governorship seat to the Osun state PDP chairman, Honourable Soji Adagunodo, at the party’s secretariat in Osogbo.

Legit.ng gathers that Adeleke promised to sustain the legacy of his late brother, Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, and called on the people of the state to vote for him.
He said: "We held a family meeting to seek God's guidance on the governorship issue and we said let all of us pray and fast for 40 days for a divine direction from Him. And it was when we got a clear signal that I came out to announce that I will contest the Osun governorship election.
"During this period of the 40 days of prayers and fasting, we, the Adeleke's, made covenant with God that we shall alleviate the suffering of the people of Osun and liberate them from the shackles of Mr Rauf Rauf Aregbesola and the All Progressive Congress."
On the sidelines of the event, the senator also disclosed that if elected as governor, he would give priority to agriculture. He added that he had fulfilled his campaign promises to his constituents.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Senator Ademola Adeleke claimed he was seeking the governorship position to serve his people.
The PDP senator said he would not steal the money of the people, as he had achieved everything he needed.
He said: "If I become governor, I cannot steal money that belongs to people. I have achieved everything that I could need money for in life. I have built houses, I have cars, I have everything. So, what would I do with stolen money? I won't steal as a governor. I only want to serve.”
