Fubara’s public service career officially commenced in 2003 when he was appointed as a classroom teacher by the Rivers State Post-Primary Schools Board. He was posted to Comprehensive High School, Alesa-Eleme, where he reportedly taught for five years.

In 2007, he transferred his service to the Rivers State Ministry of Finance, entering the department at the rank of Senior Accountant.

Over the years, Fubara was promoted through a series of increasingly senior roles. After serving as Senior Accountant, he was elevated to Principal Accountant, followed by Chief Accountant.

His trajectory continued with appointments as Assistant Director, Deputy Director, and then Director. He later became Permanent Secretary, a role that positioned him for his final civil service appointment as Accountant General of Rivers State.

Observers noted that his rise through the ranks reflected both competence and commitment to public service, with each promotion marking a significant milestone in his administrative career.

Academic credentials depicts Fubara’s technocratic profile

Fubara’s educational background has been described as robust and finance-focused. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Finance and a Master of Business Administration, both awarded by the University of Port Harcourt Business School. Additionally, he earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting from Enugu State University of Science and Technology.

His undergraduate studies were completed at the former Rivers State University of Science and Technology (now Rivers State University), where he obtained a degree in Business Education with a specialisation in Accountancy.

His foundational education began at Opobo Primary School, where he received his First School Leaving Certificate in 1986, followed by the West African School Certificate in 1992 from Comprehensive Secondary School, Opobo.

Before assuming the governorship, Fubara’s career was widely regarded as that of a technocrat with deep roots in public finance and administration. His experience as Accountant General positioned him as a key figure in the state’s fiscal management, and his transition into political leadership has drawn attention to his civil service pedigree.
