President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to remain united and hopeful as the country marks the 2026 Easter season amid economic and security pressures.
In an Easter message released on Thursday, April 2, Tinubu reflected on the significance of the Christian festival and its relevance to Nigeria’s present circumstances.

He described Easter as a reminder of sacrifice, resilience, and the triumph of light over darkness, noting that these values spoke directly to the challenges confronting the nation.
Easter message amid national challenges
The president acknowledged that security concerns continued to trouble parts of the country despite ongoing efforts by the government and the armed forces.
He praised security personnel for their commitment and assured citizens that his administration remained focused on equipping them with resources and international support to confront terrorism and banditry.
Tinubu also referenced his recent visit to Plateau state, where he met with residents following deadly attacks.
He said the visit was meant to share in their grief and to offer reassurance, adding that security chiefs had provided strong assurances of progress. According to him, assistance from foreign partners was already being received.

Call for unity and civic responsibility
Addressing Nigerians nationwide, the president said unity remained essential for peace and development. He urged citizens to support lawful efforts, look out for one another, and reject actions that threatened collective wellbeing.
Tinubu stated that ongoing reforms, though demanding, were designed to deliver shared prosperity in the long term.
As the country moved closer to another electoral cycle, he reminded political actors and parties of their obligations under the Electoral Act. He appealed for restraint, maturity, and choices guided by peace, stability, and the national interest.
Assurance of reform and progress
The president expressed confidence that economic indicators pointed toward recovery, even as many citizens continued to feel pressure.
He said, “true transformation cannot be achieved without sacrifice,” adding that enduring progress was often shaped during difficult periods.

Tinubu's govt gives mining companies deadline
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, had given mining and quarrying companies licensed by the Nigerian Mining Cadastral Office until December 31, 2025, to conclude the Community Development Agreements with host communities.
Alake issued the deadline following the review of the performance of companies on the Community Development Agreement in the first six months of this year.
