As reported by The Punch, Daniel’s media aide, Steve Oliyide, disclosed this in a statement signed on Saturday, August 9, 2025.

Danie, who is the Senator representing Ogun East, said the move to demolish his properties is clear political persecution.

He said the allegations levelled against him are deeply rooted in a thuggish and political vindictiveness at its highest level.

The former governor argued that the notice said his properties contravene the provisions of the 2022 urban and regional planning law of the state.

“For instance, the Asoludero Court was built in 2004, while the Conference Hotel, Sagamu was built in 2013, and the Annex since 2015.
“The governor’s administration is now attempting to use the Ogun State Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law No. 61 of 2022 to demolish buildings that were legally constructed long before the law was even in existence.
“This action is not only politically motivated but also a blatant disregard for due process and the rule of law. The notices in themselves are clear breaches of procedures that allow adequate time intervals between notifications on contraventions, quits, and the penalties, if indeed there were any, are not a demolition or a threat of it."

Dapo Abiodun is no longer pretentious about using state power to settle personal scores. Targeting Gbenga Daniel’s properties? This is unacceptable and must be resisted by all democrats. We will not allow Abiodun to turn the Gateway State to a theatre of political war.
