Chinese Man Holds Ex-wife Captive for Leaving Him

Ba Jiaoping, Sichuan region, China - A man faces kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment charges for locking his ex-wife in the cellar and holding her in captivity as he couldn't forgive her for leaving him.

According to local police reports, Lin Dajun, 40, built a secret bunker under his house after his second divorce. He then invited his first wife, Lin Yan, 35, for a 'chat' and chained her up in the cellar. The woman was forbidden from leaving the house under pain of death.

Although the victim's new husband had alerted the emergency services that his wife had gone missing, they failed to find any trace of her.

Eventually, the captive was saved after local officials carried out a routine census check in the town of Ba Jiaojing. The police became suspicious of Lin's behaviour and discovered the woman upon hearing some noise from the cellar.

The police representative described Lin as a man who "was not very good at keeping his wives."
