Michelle Obama surprises school kids with amazing Christmas presents

- Former US first lady, Michelle Obama, has shown a good act of kindness to kids of Highlands Elementary School in Washington DC as she gave them Christmas gifts

- Michelle donated a basketball court to the school so they can have a nice playground and also upgraded their labs with Mac systems

- To aid learning, the former first lady also gave each of the students and teachers an iPad and Mac book respectively

Michelle Obama has made this Christmas season great for kids of Highlands Elementary School in Washington DC as she gave them great Christmas presents.

The kind gesture was part of the Ellen’s Greatest Night of Giveaways over The Ellen Show. According to iMore, 65% of the students are either homeless or in foster care.

In the video, the former US first lady talked about how the school was lacking in updated computers as she replaced every one of them with Macs (for general use), laptops (for teachers) and iPads (for each of the students).

It should be noted that in most cases, the teachers have been using their personal funds to bankroll the equipment that engenders quality learning.

Aside from the numerous gifts, Michelle also gave the school a whopping amount of $100,000 (N36,250,000) plus a standard and well-made basketball court for their sport and recreational activities.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Michelle said she would give the proceeds from her book, I Am Becoming, to the education of the female child.

The proceeds are over $500,000 (N181,250,000), a sum she said would be donated through her set-up Girls Opportunity Alliance, an initiative that she launched in October 2018.

She said that the money will be used to fund projects of the organisation. Michelle added that girls in Vietnam will also be positively affected by the fund.

She, therefore, asked people who will like to support the project to make donations to the cause, telling people to spread the word.
