Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria's president, has saluted the performance of the country's Under 17 team known as the Golden Eaglets for their 3-2 win over Ecuador.

Manu Garba's boys labored hard before getting the victory which was their second win at the ongoing FIFA Under 17 World Cup in Brazil.

Buhari was glad with the resilience performance from the Golden Eaglets in which Ibrahim Said completed his hat-trick with a brace for Nigeria in the last five minutes of the encounter.

"The fact that the youngsters never gave up, and turned the table against their opponents, is a lesson in persistence and resilience,'' Buhari explained according to Special Adviser on Media Femi Adeshina.

Golden Eaglets of Nigeria have already qualified for the round of 16 even as they have one more game to play in their Group against Australia.

President Buhari however urged the Golden Eaglets to be more focused so that they can make Nigerians proud in Brazil.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Ecuador vs Nigeria saw the Golden qualify into the round of 16 of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil after winning 3-2.

Ibrahim Said scored two late goals to complete his hat-trick as an own goal from Daniel Jinadu and another from Johan Mina put Ecuador ahead.
