Emir of Zazzau to Buhari: ABUTH is suffering from poor funding

- President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, August 22, said that he will do his utmost to assist Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH)

- This came after the emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris urged President Buhari to save the university from collapse

- Idris said that ABUTH, one of the oldest universities in the country, is suffering due to lack of funding

During his visit to Zaria, Kaduna state, for the commissioning of water supply extension project on Thursday, August 22, President Muhammadu Buhari was urged by the emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris, to help Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) from collapse.

Making his request, Idris said that ABUTH, one of the oldest universities in the country, is suffering due to lack of funding, Daily Trust reports.

The emir said: “The ABUTH, being one of the oldest in the country, has effective and qualified personnel.

"But lack of funds and other problems are crippling services that the hospital supposed to provide. In the light of this, Your Excellency, I would like to request for your special intervention.”

In his reply to the emir, President Buhari said that although Idris' requests are enormous, he will do his utmost to grant his wishes, so that he will be remembered for his good works after his administration.

The president said: “I have taken note of your shopping-list. I have appreciated your votes by giving Kaduna and Kano two cabinet ministers each.

"What we have seen is a genuine love where people on short notice lined up on the street to welcome us.

"Your shopping list, Your Highness, is an expensive one. However, I will do most of them before I go, so that when I go, you remember what I did for your constituency."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that President Buhari had vowed that his administration would continue to execute people-oriented projects that will change the narrative for Nigerians.

The president stated this in Zaria, Kaduna state, on Thursday, August 22, during the commissioning of the Zaria water supply expansion project.
