Ousmane Dembele won the 2025 Ballon d'Or award at the ceremony held at the Théâtre du Chatelet on Monday, September 22, 2025.
Dembele had a remarkable year, leading Paris Saint-Germain to a quadruple, including their first-ever UEFA Champions League trophy, beating Inter Milan 5-0 in the final.

As noted by beIN Sport, Yamal won the Kopa trophy, becoming the first player to win the award twice after a brilliant individual season with Barcelona, winning three trophies.
Dembele's speech after winning Ballon d'Or
Dembele exchanged pleasantries with teammates surrounding him and also Lamine Yamal before going up on stage to receive the award from Ronaldinho, as seen in a video shared on X.
He was emotional while giving his acceptance speech, during which he mentioned eight-time winner Lionel Messi as one of the players he learned from.
“I have received this award from one of the biggest legends of all time. I can't believe this. This is an award thanks to the collective. I want to thank all my teammates,” he said as quoted by Mirror UK.
“I want to thank FC Barcelona, the club of my dreams. I played with Lionel Messi. I want to thank him too. I learned so much from him. To have been able to play with Lionel Messi.. I have learned so much from him.
“I want to thank Deschamps. Let's hope we can win the World Cup too! I want to thank my hometown, Eure. Every time I get the chance, I go back. The people in my neighbourhood helped me to this moment.
“To my mother, I want to thank you. You have always been there for me, mama. To my family, we have experienced so much together. We have been through it all. We will always be together.”
The best player in the world noted that winning the award was not his goal, but winning it after an incredible year with his team is pleasing to him.
“It's been an incredible year with PSG. It's exceptional that Ronaldinho is handing me this title. I thank everyone at PSG. President Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Luis Enrique are both like dads to me,” he added.
“The Ballon d'Or wasn't a goal in my career, but it's exceptional to win. I worked for the team to win the Champions League, and to be thanked with a trophy like the Ballon d'Or makes me very happy tonight.”
