Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku is in doubt for Napoli's opener against Sassuolo on August 23.
Lukaku played a vital role in their title-winning campaign, scoring 14 goals and 10 assists in 36 matches.
The former Manchester United star joined Napoli from Chelsea in the 2024/25 season, driven by former coach Antonio Conte, sidelining Victor Osimhen.

What happened to Lukaku?
Napoli striker Romelu Lukaku suffered a muscle injury and won’t be available for the next three months at least.
According to wvnews, the two-time UEFA Champions League runner-up picked up an injury during Napoli's 2-1 win over Olympiakos Piraeus in a friendly on Thursday, August 14.
New signing, Lorenzo Lucca came off the bench to replace Lukaku and will start in their Serie A opener.
In a statement by the Club, Lukaku has begun rehabilitation and will also undergo surgical consultation.
The 32-year-old, who is Belgium's record scorer, will miss out of the World Cup qualifiers in September, October and November.

Napoli in the market for Lukaku's replacement
Serie A champions Napoli have lined up potential players to replace Romelu Lukaku.
According to Sportingpedia, the Italian club is monitoring Manchester United player Joshua Zirkzee, FA Cup winner Jean-Philippe Mateta, AS Roma player Artem Dovbyk and Lecce’s Nikola Krstovic.

Primate Ayodele drops prophecy on Osimhen
Legit.ng earlier reported that Nigerian cleric Primate Elijah Ayodele has stirred controversy with a scary prophecy about Victor Osimhen’s recent transfer to Galatasaray.
Ayodele stated that the 26-year-old striker would not enjoy the new transfer. Osimhen sealed a permanent move from Napoli to the Turkish giants in July 2025 for €75 million ($87.7 million).
