“He said, look, he cannot work with Atiku… he said, look, he knows that Atiku hates him, and there’s no way he can support him,” Wike stated.
Wike added that the governor proposed a political alliance centred on backing a southern presidential candidate at the time.
Claims of shifting political positions
Wike criticised what he described as inconsistency in the governor’s political actions, alleging that his stance later changed.
“That was what he told me… and I never knew that from Lagos, my man never went to him, went to see Mister President,” he said.
He further alleged that the same individual later aligned with political actors linked to Atiku, despite earlier reservations.
“The same man has now agreed to go to ADC where the same Atiku that was not like him is,” Wike added.
Wike questions loyalty and party unity
The minister expressed concern over what he described as contradictory political behaviour, suggesting it undermines trust within party structures.
“One minute you tell Nigerians this, and then you come up with something else,” he said.
Wike also criticised what he termed the pursuit of political positions over collective interest.
“What is all this position, position, let us work together,” he remarked.
Tensions deepen within opposition ranks
The claims come amid ongoing political realignments and internal disputes within the PDP, with key figures accused of pursuing parallel interests ahead of future elections.

Wike maintained that his remarks were intended to highlight issues of consistency and accountability in political leadership.
“I want Nigerians to hear what happened,” he said.
