Suspect arrested after abduction

On Tuesday morning, locals noticed a Fulani man in Rogo town speaking in Fulfulde and making enquiries about the abandoned motorcycles. Residents detained him and seized his mobile phones before handing him over to the police. He remains in custody and is suspected of being either one of the attackers or someone who provided them with intelligence.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the suspect's home is in Beli town, which shares a boundary with Makarfi Local Government Area in Kaduna State. The resident also noted that while neighbouring communities such as Bokoni and Zarewa had suffered similar attacks in the past, Beli town had not previously been targeted in this manner.

Series of attacks across Kano

The abduction of the Rogo LGA chairman is part of a string of violent incidents that struck Kano within days of each other.

Roughly 24 hours before the Beli town attack, gunmen killed the APC chairman in Rantan village in Bebeji LGA and abducted his wife along with two other people.
