FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has expressed deep grief over the passing of Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Vice Chairman for the South South zone, calling him a true friend and committed political companion.
Wike conveyed his condolences through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, on the death of Orbih, who passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026.

Wike's tribute to Dan Orbih
The minister, in the statement on Tuesday, September 1, described Orbih's death as the "fall of one of the biggest trees in the political forest of Edo State," adding that the late PDP chieftain embodied everything one could hope for in a friend and political ally.
"I have lost a friend and a committed political ally. Dan Osi Orbih was everything anyone could desire in friendship and political associate. But we can't question God, He gives and He takes," Wike said.
He also extended condolences to the family of Chief M.C.K. Orbih, calling the deceased "a good friend, a great politician, and a man of faith in the Almighty God."

Orbih is survived by his wife, Mrs. Florence Orbih; his daughters, Miss Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr. Mildred Omonemi Orbih; as well as his brothers, sisters, and other members of his extended family.
Wike closed his tribute with a prayer for the departed, saying: "May his soul rest in peace."
