Sylvester Oromoni: Nigerians Sign Petition, Demand Swift Prosecution of Accused Students

Lagos - Over 100,000 Nigerians have signed two petitions on the Change.org platform, demanding the swift prosecution of five senior students who allegedly caused the death of 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni, who was a boarding student of Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos.

The first petition started by a family member of the deceased, Timi Oromoni, titled, ‘Justice For Sylvester Oromoni Jnr’ has attracted over 65,000 signatures as of 1 pm on Sunday, December 5.

Also, the second petition started by The Irede Foundation with the title, ‘We Want Justice For Sylvester’ has attracted over 50,000 signatures.

The foundation stated that:

“We’re asking for a thorough and transparent investigation and prosecution of those found to be culpable in this tragic incident. Justice must be served and seen to be served for 12-year-old Sylvester and his family.”

Sylvester's brother writes emotional tribute to late Dowen College student

The late Sylvester died just a few days to his 12th birthday and his big brother, Great Oromoni, took to social media to pen down an emotional tribute.

In the touching note, Great noted that Sylvester was his only little brother, begging him to come back.

He added that he had gotten the late Sylvester the game he wanted for his birthday gift but would no longer have the chance to give it to him.

Legit.ng had earlier reported that Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh joined many others to mourn the death of Sylvester by honouring him on his posthumous birthday.

The actress made sure she celebrated Sylvester's 12th birthday despite his death.

Tonto had a note, flowers, and a teddy bear taken to Dowen College school gate on Sylvester's birthday.
