Ugwuanyi moved to tears again after Fulani herdsmen attack

- Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu has visited the community of Attakwu, Akagbe-Ugwu, following the invasion of over 50 Fulani Herdsmen

- The attack left a Catholic Seminarian, Lazarus Nwafor dead and about four persons injured

- Governor Ugwuanyi was moved to tears just like he was when visited Ukpabi-Nimbo in April

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state today, August 25, visited the community of Attakwu, Akagbe-Ugwu in Nkanu-West local government area of Enugu state, following the invasion of over 50 Fulani Herdsmen armed with machetes.

It was gathered that the attack left Catholic Seminarian, Lazarus Nwafor dead and about four persons injured.

The seminarian was said to have just returned from his apostolic work before the attack.

Meanwhile, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, has condemned in strong terms the attack by suspected herdsmen on Attakwu, Akagbe Ugwu community which left a Catholic Seminarian dead.

According to him, the incessant attacks on parts of the country by suspected herdsmen posed a grave threat to the peace, security, and economy of the country. He called on the federal government to take decisive steps to put a full stop to the ugly incidents.

He said: “This is another heartbreak, not only for Enugu state, but the nation in general; and whatever evil forces behind these reprehensible acts certainly do not wish the country well. It must not be condoned.

“The primary object of government is the welfare and security of the citizens. The federal government must take decisive steps to put a full stop to this wanton destruction of lives and property; and the security agencies must do everything humanly possible to ensure that the perpetrators of this act of wickedness in Akagbe-Ugwu do not go unpunished."

Legit.ng recalls that it was all tears at Ukpabi, Nimbo, in Uzo-Uwani local government area of Enugu state, following the visit of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on Tuesday, April 26.

Ukpabi Nimbo community, on Monday, April 25, became a red spot on the world map when rampaging Fulani herdsmen struck, killing scores of villagers, mostly farmers, and destroyed properties worth millions of naira in the process.

Sources in the area had put the casualty figure at 40, although the police were yet to give a definite figure.

Governor Ugwuanyi reportedly could not hold back his tears when he arrived at the community, as he tried console the bereaved people.
