Real Madrid have announced that team captain Sergio Ramos has tested positive for Covid-19 barely 24 hours before their Champions League second-leg clash with Liverpool.

The defender was sidelined with an injury he picked up during the last FIFA break and was not expected to return to the squad in the next few days.

He will now spend some more time away from the team as he recovers from Covid-19. Raphael Varane also tested positive a week ago and is still not able to return to the team.

Eder Militao and Nacho Fernandez started against Liverpool and Barcelona this past week and it looks like they will have to take care of business for the next couple of games as well, so Zinedine Zidane and his coaching staff will be hoping that they stay healthy and fresh given Madrid’s schedule.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are reportedly planning to include Vinicius Jr in a swap deal to land Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.

The Frenchman's future at the Parc Des Princes remains uncertain following the forward's refusal to pen a new deal just yet.

As it stands, the World Cup winner's current deal with the Ligue 1 defending champions expires in June 2022 which means that teams can start talking to him from next January.

The chances of Mbappe staying back at PSG are rather very slim and the Paris-based club will be hoping to cash in on his sale with over £87 million price tag placed on him.
