Serious tension in Spain as former Barcelona president Bartomeu and 3 other chiefs arrested
- Former Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu has been arrested by the police
- The 58-year-old was accused of corruption while in charge of the team

Police on Monday, March 1, stormed the Camp Nou which is the home of Spanish giants Barcelona and former president Josep Maria Bartomeu was arrested together with some club's chiefs.
Other people who were said to have been arrested are Barcelona CEO Oscar Grau and Roman Gomez Ponti who is the club’s head of legal department.
According to the report on Mirror, these people were accused of unfair administration and also money laundering at the Spanish giants.
The accusation against Bartomeu actually started last year which forced him to resign from his position at the club.
It was claimed that he and his regime hired I3 Ventures to protect his reputation, while smearing the names of the likes of Lionel Messi, Gerard Pique, Pep Guardiola and other club legends, as well as outspoken critics of Bartomeu.

Serious investigations are expected to be made in which Bartomeu may land himself in prison if found guilty of what he has been arrested for.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are currently occupying second position on the Spanish La Liga table with 53 points after 25 games played so far this season.
Barcelona will be facing Sevilla on Wednesday, March 3, in the second leg of Copa del Rey semifinal.

The Spain international together with some of his friends founded this company four years ago, and they have been making big profits ever since then.
So far this season, Gerard Pique has not been able to play many games for the Spanish giants as a knee injury has kept the Spaniard out of 23 encounters.

According to the report, that has given the former Manchester United star the chance to monitor his company where he is raking in more money.
The report added that Pique's company is an investment firm that has predominantly been involved in the historic Davis Cup tennis competitions.
