Nigeria vs Thailand: Falcons finish 7th after thrashing Thailand 3-0 in Cyprus Women's Cup

- Asisat Oshoala netted the opening goal as Super Falcons cruised to a 3-0 win over Thailand

- Onome Ebi ensured Nigeria go into the break with a 2-0 advantage after scoring the second in the 23rd minute

- Anam Imo sealed victory for the Thomas Dennerby tutored-side in the 74th minute

Super Falcons thrashed Thailand 3-0 in their final game of Cyprus Women’s Cup on Wednesday, March 6, as they continue preparation for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup finals.

Asisat Oshoala netted her second goal of the tournament in the 23rd minute and Nigeria's opening goal of the contest.

Defender Onome Ebi increased Falcons lead in the 28th minute of the contest to ensure Nigeria go into the break on a 2-0 lead.

In the second stanza, the goals were not easy to come by, but with 16 minutes to the end of regulation time Anam Imo sealed the victory for Nigeria with the third goal.

At the blast of the final whistle the Super Falcons finished 7th overall in the tournament after the morale boosting win over their Asian opponents.

Speaking moments after the game, Super Falcons coach Thomas Dennerby told thexpressng.com that he was satisfied with the team’s performance as they continue to work towards the World Cup.

We lost to Austria but we recovered well against Slovakia, and if we had put away the chances we had after scoring our third goal, there would have been no way for them to equalize. A good thing that we won in the end.

“I am happy that we were able to come here and participate in this tournament. The lessons are good for the team, just like we also learnt a lot at the tournament in China,” the highly-experienced coach submitted.

The eight edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup finals holds in France, from June 7- July 7, 2019.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Super Falcons suffered their second defeat at the ongoing tournament in Cyprus as they prepare for the FIFA Women's World Cup in the summer.

The Europeans got into the lead as early as the seventh minute through Elena Dhont to put the Dutch side ahead by 1-0 over the African champions.
