Details Of How Kano APC Chieftain Died in Abuja Hotel Emerge

FCT, Abuja - The All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Kano State has been thrown into mourning following the tragic death of the Assistant Organising Secretary of the party, Abdulsalami Ginsau.

The APC chieftain reportedly died on Friday, March 27, after he was allegedly trapped in a faulty elevator at Chida Hotels in Utako, Abuja.

Ginsau headed the committee tasked with arranging accommodation for Kano delegates to the recently concluded APC convention.

The Kano State APC chairman, Umar Haruna Doguwa, stated that Ginsau arrived in Abuja a day ahead of the convention to facilitate hotel bookings for participants from the state.

Doguwa said panic started when they could not find Ginsau during the APC convention on Friday. He said they immediately began a frantic search for him.

He said it was at the Utako Police Division that they got to know about Ginsau’s death.

As reported by the Daily Trust, a source at the hotel said the deceased was lodged on the third floor.

The source added that Ginsau entered the malfunctioning elevator in the early hours of Friday and sank, unknown to the hotel’s management.

According to the source, all the delegates who lodged at the hotel departed for the APC convention without being aware of Ginsau’s whereabouts.

The source said that it was the following day that the hotel started perceiving an offensive odour, and a search began during which the remains of the deceased were discovered.

A police source disclosed that Chida Hotels management reported the tragic incident on Saturday, March 28, 2026.

The source added that the matter is currently under investigation.

“Chida Hotels came to report that there was an incident, and we are investigating it. The ongoing autopsy is part of the investigation. The division is actively investigating the matter.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that a 56-year-old Egyptian national, Mohammed Saleh, lost his life in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Saleh slumped and died while having dinner at the Abuja Intercontinental Hotel in the Wuse Zone 4 area of the FCT.
