Breaking: Tension as INEC withdraws recognition of David Mark-led ADC, reasons emerge

In a statement issued late on Wednesday, April 1, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, criticised INEC’s interpretation of a Court of Appeal ruling.

He, however, called it “contradictory” and questioned the impartiality of the commission.

ADC alleges government interference

Abdullahi said the development reflects growing unease within the government over the party’s rising influence.

He stated:

“We reject INEC’s interpretation of the Court of Appeal ruling. We knew that INEC was being pressured by a government that has become jittery from the ADC’s rising momentum even in the face of its relentless assault on all opposition parties.”

The statement accused INEC of siding against Nigerians and emphasised that the party is reviewing the situation before deciding its next course of action, Vanguard reported.

ADC vows to clarify contradictions

Speaking further, Abdullahi said:

“The INEC press statement is full of contradictions that fly in the face of both facts and reason. We shall clarify these contradictions for all to see,” Abdullahi added, while affirming that the party remains committed to its members and supporters.
