Broadcaster Dr. Oriyomi Hamzat has reacted to the way Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, addressed the new Olubadan of Ibadan.
Recall that Oba Rashidi Ladoja was crowned as the new Olubadan amid pomp and pageantry, with many dignitaries from different walks of life present at the coronation and reception ceremony.

While addressing the new monarch, Peter Obi referred to him as “dear brother,” a statement that did not sit well with Oriyomi.
In a video shared on Instagram, the broadcaster, who had earlier changed the life of a young boy a few months ago, said Obi’s remark was disrespectful to the Yoruba people. He stressed that even the president, who was also at the event, did not address the monarch in such a manner.

Fans react to Oriyomi’s video
Reacting, fans of the media personality dragged him online, accusing him of trying to instigate tribal conflict between the Igbos and the Yorubas.
One person pointed out that even Atiku Abubakar addressed the monarch the same way, yet nobody raised an issue.
Another fan warned that people should focus on more important national matters instead of trivial issues.
