Cardi B Opens Up As Divorce Battle with Offset Goes Messy: “He Wants Me to Pay His Taxes”

Cardi B is once again baring it all to her fans, and this time, it’s about the ongoing battle to legally end her marriage with fellow rapper Offset.
During a session on X Spaces on Monday, September 22, the Bronx superstar revealed that her divorce papers remain unsigned because of a demand she finds “outrageous.”
The mother of three did not hold back as she shared what has kept her tied to Offset despite filing for divorce in August 2024. This was just one month before their daughter Blossom was born.

She explained that Offset’s terms include not only spousal support but also that she covers his tax bills and hands over one of her properties.
Cardi said:
“The only reason why I’m still married is because somebody still wants me to pay for they taxes. I pay my own taxes. I’m fighting because I shouldn’t have to pay somebody else’s too. That’s not fair."
Since the filing, both stars have been in a tug-of-war trying to settle things out of court.
In May, Offset submitted an amended response demanding joint custody of their children and requesting that Cardi’s home be the children’s primary residence.
He also sought spousal support, though the exact amount has not been disclosed.
But according to Cardi, things are at a standstill.
She lamented:
“I’m not going to stop living my life because, on a contract, I’m practically still married. Somebody wanna hold me hostage if I don’t give them millions to get out of it."
