Edo 2020: Oshiomole Finally Reacts to Obaseki’s Victory at Supreme Court, Accepts Fate

Benin, Edo - The former governor of Edo state and ex-national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has congratulated Governor Godwin Obaseki on his recent victory at the Supreme Court over his alleged certificate forgery.

Vanguard reports that Oshiomhole in a letter written to Obaseki and made available to newsmen by his media aide, Victor Oshioke, said the apex court has effectively laid to rest all matters arising from the last election.

Legit.ng gathered that he said his relationship with Obaseki has through the years developed beyond being friends to being brothers of different parents.

The pre-Edo election tussle was unfortunate

BBC Pidgin also reports that the APC chieftain described what happened between him and Obaseki during the election as unfortunate, adding that he believes God has reasons for everything.

The statement read:

“Congratulations on your victory at the Supreme Court which has effectively laid to rest all matters arising from the last election.
“As I had repeatedly reminded you during our several meetings, our relationship has through the years developed beyond being friends to being brothers of different parents. Whatever happened is unfortunate and I believe God has reasons for everything.
“I have put all behind me and moved on. As I have consistently advised, please be magnanimous in victory. You are the governor of all Edo people regardless of political leanings. Once again, congratulations Excellency! Please accept the renewed assurances of my very best wishes and high regards.”

Governor Obaseki again wins at Supreme Court

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the Supreme Court dismissed the certificate forgery case filed against Governor Godwin Obaseki by the APC.

It was reported that the apex court in a ruling on Friday, May 28, ruled that the APC and one of its members, Williams Edobor, failed to prove their case against the Edo state governor.

A five-man panel of justices of the apex court in a unanimous decision stated that the appellants could not provide any disclaimer from the school that the certificate, whose authenticity they challenged, was not issued to Obaseki by the institution.

In a related report, the APC governorship candidate in Edo state, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, reacted to the Supreme Court judgement that dismissed the certificate forgery case against Governor Obaseki.

The former governorship candidate in a statement explained that the judgment brought the struggle for the office of the state governor which started in September 2020, to an end.
